Canon India Pvt. Ltd expanded its PIXMA printer series with the launch of two new models - PIXMA TS3170 and PIXMA E3170. The new PIXMA printers are equipped with a segmentLCD display with intuitive icons that guide the user through all operations; from wireless setup to making multiple copies using different document sizes. The operation panel of the printers feature one-touch switching to direct wireless connection and back to standard network infrastructure mode. Both the printers feature a fingerprint and scratch resistant glossy grid pattern. TS3170 is best suited for occasional printing and is compatible with affordable cartridge - Canon PG-745s and CL-746S. PIXMA E3170 is best suited for everyday printing and is compatible with ink efficient cartridges PG-47 and Cl-57s which provides low cost printing of up to 400 monochrome documents and 180 color documents. PIXMA TS3170 and PIXMA E3170 are available at the cost of INR 4,995 and INR 5,995 respectively.
IDC Japan recently announced that in the first quarter, the sales of augmented reality and virtual reality headsets have increased by 70%. VR headset shipment rose 70% to 2.242 million units while AR devices gained 77% to 38,000 units. The market share of the companies are as follows: Samsung Electronics captured 22%, followed by Sony 19%, HTC from Taiwan 9%. While in the AR devices - Microsoft took 28%, Epson 19% and Intel 16%. In the Japanese market, Epson took 75% of total AR headset shipments and Sony 84% of VR devices' total units. IDC Japan forecasts that the sale of AR & VR headset in 2021 will grow 10x as compared to that in 2016, mainly due to rapid growth of VR terminals with reduced retail prices, focussed on consumer use. The company estimates that VR terminals will take up 73% of the VR and AR combined market. On the other hand, the IDC predicts that the AR sets will be used mainly by business sectors, such as the healthcare, manufacture and product design segments. The business-use AR devices took 68% of all AR shipments in 2016, which will be 83.3% in 2021. In the Japanese market, the combined shipments will be 1.05 million units in 2021 to grow nearly 9 times from about 120,000 units in 2016.
Shutterfly is known as one of the world’s largest online retailer and manufacturer, providing image publishing services. HP Inc. recently announced that it has signed a five-year deal with Shutterfly, who has named HP as its preferred digital press provider. Last year, around the same time, Shutterfly had acquired a first phase of 25 HP Indigo 12000 Digital Presses, making its combined order the largest deal by far for HP Indigo. This five-year deal marks the biggest ever competitive win for HP Indigo, with Shutterfly’s decision to make HP its preferred digital press provider and replace presses from an existing vendor. Shutterfly has announced that it will use its new fleet of digital presses to produce a range of high-quality, personalized products and gifts including photo books, calendars, custom stationery, cards and keepsakes. The 29-inch format HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press will enable the production of these products through offset matching digital colour with true photo quality, high productivity, and wide versatility on an unmatched range of media including synthetic, metalized and canvas applications.
