India’s first online digital platform ‘Pixlent.com’ was launched on the occasion of World Photography Day in Pune by landscape & fine art photography expert, Lalit Deshmukh at Sumant Moolgaokar Auditorium. Pixlent.com is conceptualised and designed by Dr. Yashodhan Joshi. In the inaugural speech he said, “The main motive behind this concept is to develop the skills behind the lens and to bring aspiring photographers and passionate photography experts together for the sole purpose of professional photo reviews and critiquing”. The first segment of the launching event had a group discussion amongst Pixlent experts who are also some of the best names in photography. It was moderated by Prashant Desai. The topics for the discussion were: What goes into taking a good shot and how to give your photo the extra edge. The experts also shared their stories and talked on the journey of Film Photography to Digital Photography. The second segment of the program contained Live Photo Critiquing On Pixlent.com by Lalit Deshmukh and fashion and glamour photographer Sameer Belvalkar. Experts also answered the questions asked by the audience. The program ended with the vote of thanks given by Sameer Belvalkar. The show was hosted by Tejashri Dharane.
Nintendo Co. announced the launch of a palmsized version of its hugely successful Super Famicom game console, in the Japanese market. The game which was originally launched in the year 1990 will be recreated as the 'Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Famicom' and it will be available with 21 preloaded titles including the immensely popular 'Super Mario World'. More popular games such as 'Platoon' are also expected to be launched soon. The revival model will have two controllers as the original model. The gaming console will be available from October 5th onwards for an expected street price of of 7,980 yen. The company will launch the recreated console in Europe and the United States on September 29th and in Australia on September 30th, 2017, prior to its launch in the domestic market.
Japan's leading printer and photocopier maker Konica Minolta Inc. announced at the company will be acquiring Ambry Genetic Corp. - a US diagnostic company, in a deal valued at up to USD 1 billion. This is one of the largest deals for Konica Minolta and the company will jointly carry out the acquisition with the funds provided by Innovation Network Corp of Japan. Konica Minolta, which has a market value of around $4 billion, will account for 60 percent of the investment and the Innovation Network Corp of Japan (INCJ) will provide for the remaining 40 percent. Both the companies intend to enter into the precision medicine segment which is expected to have a great potential for the treatment of cancer. KMI has its own diagnostic technique, utilising a High Sensitive Tissue Testing (HSTT) technology, while Ambry excels in genetic tests for breast, colon and cancers, heart and respiratory diseases, etc. Further, the company will combine its HSTT technology and Ambry's genetic diagnostic technology to offer high-standard cancer diagnostic services and aid the development of new reagents which will help produce new medicines. Talking about the acquisition, Shoei Yamana - Chief Executive Officer of Konica Minolta Inc., said, “Together with Ambry, we will have the most comprehensive set of diagnostic technologies for mapping an individual's genetic and biochemical makeup." The companies expect to complete the necessary procedure for the deal by the end of October, 2017 and post which, Ambry will become a subsidiary of KMI while Ambry's business will be continued in the US.
