Shutterfly is known as one of the world’s largest online retailer and manufacturer, providing image publishing services. HP Inc. recently announced that it has signed a five-year deal with Shutterfly, who has named HP as its preferred digital press provider. Last year, around the same time, Shutterfly had acquired a first phase of 25 HP Indigo 12000 Digital Presses, making its combined order the largest deal by far for HP Indigo. This five-year deal marks the biggest ever competitive win for HP Indigo, with Shutterfly’s decision to make HP its preferred digital press provider and replace presses from an existing vendor. Shutterfly has announced that it will use its new fleet of digital presses to produce a range of high-quality, personalized products and gifts including photo books, calendars, custom stationery, cards and keepsakes. The 29-inch format HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press will enable the production of these products through offset matching digital colour with true photo quality, high productivity, and wide versatility on an unmatched range of media including synthetic, metalized and canvas applications. Sharing his thoughts on the coveted deal, President of Imaging & Printing Business, HP Inc - Enrique Lores said, “We are seeing an incredible renaissance in digital printing. Nikon Corp. will be boosting the production of its of display panels for smartphones and televisions in its factories in Japan. The company has decided to thrust the production as its competition in China and other Asian countries are aggressively investing in the development of high resolution LCD panels and OLED panels. The company has established additional production facilities in the premise of its existing . factories located in Tochigi and Miyagi Prefectures. Nikon has already increased the production capacity for its small-size panels (for smartphone) by 1.5x over those of 2015 and the production is being carried out at full swing. For large panels (for televisions), Nikon will increase the production 2x by 2018. Nikon currently enjoys about 65 percent of the world's share in panel manufacturing equipment. Nikon utilises the 10th generation size plates for manufacturing the large-format panels. Panel producers, Chinese companies in particular, are planning to build large-panel production factories, for which they are aggressively approaching the government to grant them subsidiaries.
Ricoh India Ltd., announced the launch of its new digital SLR camera-PENTAX KP. The D-SLR features an APS-C sized CMOS image sensor, supported by approximately 24.32 megapixels and sensitivity ranging up to ISO 819200. It is equipped with a 5-axis shake-reduction system, an electronically controlled shutter unit for super-high-speed shooting at 1/24000 second and an optical viewfinder with nearly 100% field of view. The Pentax KP is dustproof, weather-resistant and can endure temperatures as low as -10°C. It can also capture high-resolution Full HD movie clips in the H-264 recording format. It is equipped with a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with a vertical tilt function, a Real-time Scene Analysis System and a High-speed 27-point autofocus system with the SAFOX 11 module. The PENTAX KP provides a range of customisation features, such as a grip replacement system to personalise the camera's grip to accommodate the photographer's shooting style or a mounted lens.
